Research:

I decided to specifically research current production and distribution companies before making my decision as to which companies would represent my film. In the spider diagram below, I have a range of production companies divided into two groups - independent production companies and major (or 'large') production companies. The main difference between these groups is budget: independent companies work on low budget films (such as Paranormal Activity), and major production companies require a larger budget when creating their films (such as Godzilla).

When exploring distribution companies, I originally looked for those based in the UK. However, I wanted a large company that specialised in low budget (and independently produced) films. The first spider diagram shows my  research into distribution companies that had branches in the UK (such as Universal Pictures UK). However, many of the companies that I found appeared to specialise in family films, films within the action genre, or had an initial budget hundreds of thousands too many times big for our film.

In order to find a company suited to my film, I created a spider diagram based on thriller films.
This spider diagram is again, shown below:

In a previous blog post, I decided to research what methods my target audience felt were most efficient when advertising a film, by creating a questionnaire. The results of this showed me what techniques to consider when distributing my film. From this, I drew up a conclusion on how to market my film, which can be seen on the last slide of my answer to question three on the Visme presentation at the top of this post.
